66743 at Bescot
The "new" Britannic Explorer luxury train suffered a shambolic introduction to service in 2025. It was plagued by recurring issues with the door interlocking mechanism which resulted in several complete cancellations, some just prior to departure and some not long after. The programme of trips for 2025 was eventually pulled altogether and the whole train was subsequently returned to Assenta Rail in Hamilton for rectification. On Saturday 14th March 2026 the train headed back to its operating base at Eastleigh after the necessary work had been completed. 66743 led 5O22 Hamilton - Eastleigh, and is seen here at 15:38, slowing for a crew change in Bescot Up Loop.
